Acknowledgements This page acknowledges those who have served as mentors to OISC Director Donn Silberman. Mr. Frank Memmer is a retired high school teacher who taught astronomy to Mr. Silberman during his junior year and allowed him to serve as a student technician during his senior year in high school. This set the stage for Mr. Silberman to begin his college at the University of Arizona, where he went to study Astronomy. Dr. William Bickel is University Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Physics at the University of Arizona and was Mr. Silberman's faculty advisor while at the UofA. Dr. Bickel also served as faculty advisor to the Society of Physics Students, which Mr. Silberman was President from 1981 - 1983 and Associate Councilor during the 1983- 1984 school year. Dr. Ke Chiang (Johnny) Hsieh is Professor of Physics at the University of Arizona and was Mr. Silberman's Honors Advisor. Dr. Hsieh hired Mr. Silberman to teach freshman undergraduate physics labs as a Teaching Assistant from 1981-1982. Dr. Stephen F. Jacobs is Professor Emeritus of Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona and hired Mr. Silberman in 1982 to collect introductory experiments from other OSC professors and assemble them as the core of an advanced graduate laboratory course. Dr. John W. Sheets Jr. is currently Vice President, Research & Development, Ethicon, Inc., a Johnson & Johnson Company and was Mr. Silberman's supervisor at IOLAB Corp, a Johnson & Johnson Comapny, from 1988 to 1994, where Mr. Silberman served as a Sr. R&D Optical Engineer developing multifocal intraocular lenses. Mr. Roy McCord is Professor of The Laser Electro-Optics Program at Irvine Valley College, where Mr. Silberman has served on the Advisory Committee since 1994.
